The Michelada: My Obsession

I recently went with my friend Braden to Dona Cata on Victoria Drive. It's a delicious, low key Mexican restaurant that happens to have a hot pink exterior. While this place has incredible tacos and a 10-salsa bar set up, I am here to talk about something else.

I generally dislike beer. I've tried again and again to experiment and find the one beer I like, and have come back with not a lot of success...

Until now.

Braden ordered a Michelada, which sounded a bit like a Mexican Caesar. You order your beer of choice (his was Negra Modelo), and they load it with lime, tomato/clamato, and spices, and serve it in a frosty mug with a rock-salted rim. When I talked to the server, she said they also add some sort of hot sauce (which of course could not be divulged!).

I got brave and ordered one myself, and let me tell you: It's been a few weeks, and I have literally thought about this drink at least once every day since. It's zippy, refreshing, citrus-y, and definitely has a kick. It looks a bit like barf or something of that variety, but close your eyes, and bottoms up, baby. You won't regret it.

DISCLAIMER: Braden got loco, drank 7 of these in one night, and had heartburn for a month. So keep it in moderation, ese.

Here's some music to wash down with that drink. Mood music, if you will.
